Hi, my name is Krystal Holliday, founder and creator of RaPoeTry. Poetry has been to me what religion has been to humanity. It is a place where I’ve been able to draw peace, a place where I’m able to find purpose, and it has been a friend to me in my darkest hours.
My love for writing lead me on a life of literary pursues of all kinds and from there, I became a spoken word performer.
I grew up in the American Foster Care System and it was here were writing became essential for my sanity and well-being. My mom was addicted to alcohol and crack cocaine, this ultimately lead to her death but one thing she did that I will forever be thankful for.
She read to me.
I remember being 5 years old and my mom reading Stephen King to me. (Not the best reading option for a toddler but hey) I was scared as hell but I remember thinking, “How can I be so afraid?
The thought that emotion could be evoked just by reading fascinated me.
I am a proud poet I have an Associate in Liberal Arts and I graduated from University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s in English Rhetoric. It is accompanied by a minor in Technological Communication. With your help, I will continue to push RaPoeTry concept, not just as a means of self-discovery but as a means of innovation and cultivating percepts that advance every area overs lives.
